Nelson Amaral is a founding partner of Amaral Mendes LLP.
Nelson is an experienced civil litigator and corporate lawyer. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants, at many levels of Ontario courts and before various administrative tribunals, in a wide range of disputes, including contract disputes, property disputes, debt collection, employment disputes and claims related to business issues.
Nelson also practices in the area of wills, estates, trusts, and in the area of corporate law. He has acted on a number of commercial transactions, including corporate reorganizations, asset purchases, and corporate mergers.
Nelson was born and raised in Cambridge, Ontario. He attended Wilfrid Laurier University and graduated with an Honours B.A. in Philosophy. He later went on to complete an M.A. in Philosophy in assisted genetics.
Nelson attended law school at Western University. During his time at law school, he successfully competed in the American Bar Association Negotiation Competition and won the Canadian Negotiation Title two (2) years consecutively. During the summer of 2004, he was the recipient of the University of San Diego’s Pierre Azard Scholarship and attended the International Law Institute at the University of Paris. He graduated in 2005, articled at an international, full-service firm with a local office, and was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2006.
Nelson is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and the Waterloo Region Law Association.
Nelson is a long-time resident of Waterloo Region.
